Orange Cranberry Bourbon Holiday Cocktail

Whether you are hosting a fancy holiday soiree, or just looking for a tasty and festive cocktail to enjoy on a blustery night in, I've got the drink for you! Every year, Pat and I try to come up with a new holiday drink to enjoy. Last year we were hooked on Cranberry Margaritas which were oooh so good. I probably had one just about every night of the week.

This year, I decided to come up with something new and exciting. I knew I wanted it to involve bourbon (I'm big into bourbon right now.) I also loved the idea of using cranberries again, but instead of cranberry juice, I decided to go crazy and make a homemade cranberry sauce. It's easier to make than you'd think!

I had to cut the tartness of the cranberries with something sweet, and orange juice seemed like a delicious choice for that. With a few more delicious ingredients, I knew I had found my drink for December! I hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

Pear & Vanilla Vodka Cocktail

Serves: 2

Ingredients:

3 oz Bourbon

3 oz Orange Juice

Soda Water

3 oz cranberries

1/4 cup sugar

1/4 cup water

1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger

1 cinnamon stick

Directions:

  1. In a saucepan, combine cranberries, sugar, water, ginger and cinnamon stick. Bring mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer until the cranberries have split open and the sauce has thickened (about 10 minutes.)

  2. Once it has cooled, add some of the cranberry sauce to the bottom of each cocktail glass.

  3. Fill glass with ice, then pour in Bourbon and Orange Juice. Top off the glass with a little bit of soda water.

  4. Garnish with an orange slice, rosemary, and a few cranberries. Enjoy!
