Honest Review: Hum Nutrition

I'm a sucker for the latest and greatest "thing," and I'm not ashamed to admit it. Sure, half the junk I try is a total scam. I just can't help myself, though! If a product has a great advertising campaign and lots of great reviews, it's sure to lure me in.

I have terrible hormonal acne all along my jaw line, and I've been desperate for a cure. Not too long ago I tried the South Korean 8-step skincare routine (like I said, I'm a sucker.) It helped a bit, but wasn't perfect. This acne is caused by something internal, so I feel like no matter how much stuff I glob on my skin, it's just not going to make a difference.

I read a ton of reviews online saying that Hum Nutrition helped with Hormonal Acne, so I thought I'd give it a go!

First off, I'd like to say the packaging is soooooo adorable. Also, they give you cute little samples and freebies in your monthly shipments! I love free stuff!! The first month they sent me a little packet of mint seeds with an article about all the great things mint can do for your body. I've also received some samples of skincare products, and samples of their "superfood powder" which looked disgusting but tasted delicious. (update - I now drink the superfood powder on a daily basis. Read my review here!)

Price

The products range in price from about $10-$40. The prices seemed quite steep compared to other vitamins. For example, the omega-3 vitamin from Hum is a 30 day supply for $1 per vitamin (at full price) vs. similar vitamins on Amazon for as low as $.13 per vitamin. However, there are quite a few ways to save money on the Hum Nutrition products and in the end that price is much more reasonable.

I've laid them out for you here:

1. To start, I took a little quiz to find out what products they recommend for me. Just for completing that, I got a $10 coupon!

2. If you buy 3 or more vitamins, you get a 25% discount! Definitely worth it.

3. Next, you can choose a plan as opposed to placing a 1-time order. I ended up going with the 90 day plan, so I got an additional 15% discount. I wasn't ready to commit to any longer than that, otherwise I would have considered the 6-month plan for 20% off my purchase, or 12-month plan for 25% off my purchase. (I did read, though, that even if you go with the longer plan, you can still cancel at any time. Maybe I should have just gone for it to get the bigger discount!)

4. The last tip I have for saving money on these babies is to use someone's referral link to get an ADDITIONAL $20 off. That's in addition to all the other discounts I already told you about! For example, you can use mine!

Use my referral link to receive $20 off your first order of $39 or more.

Full disclosure here, I'd also get $10 off if you used my code. When I made my purchase, I used a referral code someone had included with their amazon review. (Clever girl.)

In the end, I got my first month's supply for $27.81. That seemed like a good deal for what they consider $75 worth of vitamins. After that first month, I've been charged $47.81 monthly.

Products & Results The last few months I've tried Daily Cleanse, Gut Instinct, Red Carpet, Flatter Me, and Wing Man.

Daily Cleanse: This product promises to detox your entire body and improve your skin. This is one that I stuck with all three months, despite the fact that it's the hardest one for me to swallow. It's a daily struggle, for real. It's a pretty big vitamin, plus you have to take TWO of them, first thing in the morning when you wake up. Yuuuuuuuuucccckkkkk. HOWEVER! Here I am about three months later, and I have virtually clear skin. I did have one bad bout of acne after I had my makeup done for a wedding, but that was of course caused by external forces, not internal. I swear to you that the Daily Cleanse combined with Gut Instinct (below) have made such an amazing improvement in my hormonal acne. I'm no scientist or doctor, so I can't really tell you how it's working, but I can tell you that it definitely IS working! I absolutely recommend this product.

Gut Instinct: This is actually a probiotic, which I love. It improves your overall health, and helps improve your skin as well. You only have to take one tiny little vitamin a day on an empty stomach. I take this one first thing in the morning with my Daily Cleanse. Easy peasy. As I said above, I attribute my now clear skin to this product and the Daily Cleanse. I have an occasional pimple, but nothing like the deep and widespread acne I was getting just a few months ago. I'm sure there are lots of great things going on internally that I don't even know about.

Red Carpet: Who doesn't want glowing skin and hair? That's what Red Carpet promises to do. I obviously bought it for my skin, and hair was just an added bonus. Here's the thing - you take one of these a day with food. That's where things got tricky for me. It was easy to get up and take Daily Cleans & Gut Instinct on an empty stomach before I worked out. This one, for whatever reason, I could never remember to take. I can't honestly give a review on Red Carpet because I was never consistent about taking it like I was with the others. I actually still have almost a full bottle. I'll try to start back up with this one soon, and update this post if I find I have amazing results!

Flatter Me: I added this to my order for month 2 to replace Red Carpet (since I had a full bottle left.) Flatter stomach and improved digestion? Yes please. I always feel super bloated and gross after I eat - by the end of the day, I'm like a hot air balloon floating around my house. You are supposed to take Flatter Me right before your two major meals of the day. I was pretty good about this, but I can't say I noticed much of a difference. I take it before breakfast and dinner. Maybe my stomach is a little flatter, but nothing crazy. I still have bloating in my tummy at the end of the day, albeit slightly less than it used to be. As for digestion, I've noticed no difference at all. I still have about half a bottle left, so I'll keep trying and update you if I notice anything miraculous :)

Wing Man: I like to drink. Alcohol. I don't drink heavily, but I do like to have a nice little beverage most evenings. I just found Hum's liver detox supplement and thought, "I bet my liver would love that!" It's also supposed to help with dark circles under your eyes, which is something I really really need. You are supposed to take this little fella daily with food. I've started taking it with dinner since I usually pour myself a nice glass of alcohol for "dessert." I haven't noticed a huge difference yet (not that I'd really notice any changes in my liver I guess... I just mean I still have dark circles.) I'll keep you posted if anything changes!

Update - I've since tried a few more Hum products! For my reviews of their Green Superfood Powder, Uber Energy, or Beauty zzZz, click here.

In Conclusion:

I love Hum Nutrition. The packaging is absolutely adorable and I really look forward to the little surprises I get with my shipment each month. Plus, what's inside the cute packaging works wonders! I've already found at least two that I've decided I can't live without. I would highly recommend the Daily Cleanse and Gut Instict to anyone suffering from hormonal acne. As a bonus, my fingernails are stronger than ever (they used to break all the time.) I'm definitely going to be renewing my plan, and might even spring for the 1-year plan to get that 25% discount. I just need to find that third holy grail product from Hum to round out my monthly trio. Maybe Wing Man will be the one? I'll let you know! Have you tried Hum Nutrition? What did you think?
